MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to anyone who is interested in accordion music. Our members range in age from 5 to over 75. They are players, students, parents, music teachers, professional accordionists and members of the general public who enjoy accordion music.

MEMBERSHIP FEE

$10.00 annually (Jan. - Dec.)
$5.00 annually for youth members (16 & under)

MEETINGS

Meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of every month (except July) at Capilano Community Hall at 7:15 pm. Go north from Capilano Mall on 50th Street to 108A Avenue. Turn left on 108A Avenue to the end. Bring your accordion and have some fun. Everyone is welcome.

TYPICAL MEETING

A short business meeting to take care of Society business, followed by a workshop on accordion-related topics. This is followed by an hour or more of group playing, jamming and individual performing.

CLUB ACTIVITIES

  • ACCORDION EXTRAVAGANZA! - (late Sept.) A yearly accordion festival which draws accordion enthusiasts, players, dancers, competitors and exhibitors from Alberta, Saskatchewan, B.C. and the United States.
  • Volunteer Appreciation Night - A party for volunteers who donated their time to Accordion Extravaganza.
  • Summer Picnic - A BBQ-style picnic with lots of food, activities and accordion-playing for Society members, their families and friends.
  • Performances - Society members perform on a volunteer basis at a variety of functions such as The Leduc West Antique Society Fair, Edmonton First Night Festival, Beat Beethoven Run, Edmonton Arts Awareness Promotion, and The Festival of Trees.
  • Support Other Accordion Associations
      - Co-sponsor (with the Edmonton Scottish Society) of the Laurie Accordion Orchestra (Paisley, Scotland) North American Tour, 2001
      - Participate in Accordion Association of Calgary events
      - Encourage accordion competitions at the Edmonton Kiwanis Festival
